Obituary
Shirley Darlene Brown, age 82 of Mansfield, passed away on September 16, 2021, at Lexington Court Care Center. She was born on July 19, 1939, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Melvin Eugene & Helen Viola (Reeder) Robinson and grew up in rural Pennsylvania where her dad was a mechanic.
Shirley was a graduate of James Buchanan High School and soon after married John Fritz and became a Mom to three wonderful girls. She later married William Lee Brown and enjoyed a happy marriage until he passed away in 1995.
Shirley worked over 20 years as a dental assistant for Dr. Barbone and relaxed patients with her easygoing manner. Her family likes to say she was a wisecracker and always kept them laughing. She regularly attended Main Street United Methodist in Mansfield and enjoyed the fellowship of her church family.
Shirley enjoyed crocheting and was fanatical about her yard work—trimming, planting, you name it—she loved keeping a beautiful yard full of plants. She loved breakfast foods any time of day, especially eggs. She had an independent streak and there “wasn’t no stopping Shirley.”
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Debbie & Terry Bivens of Mansfield; daughter Pamela Fritz of Mansfield; grandchildren Scott & Angel of Mansfield and Aubrey & Tommy of Florida.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, the father of her children John Fritz, second husband Bill Brown, and her daughter Sharon Kay (Fritz) Fife.
