Obituary
Loralie (Lorie) Park of Greenville, SC passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 18, 2022 at the age of 91.
She was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma to the late Herbert and Earline Hagle. She graduated from Wittenberg University with a degree in art in 1953. Her marriage to the late John Henderson Park of Mansfield, Ohio was a happy one lasting for 56 years. Lorie was a wonderful mother to her three children while raising them in the cities of Columbus and Westerville, Ohio. She then enjoyed having her grandchildren come for visits in Simi Valley, California; Conway, South Carolina; and Greenville, South Carolina.
Mrs. Park used her many talents to serve others and to enjoy life. She was a gifted artist who decorated high school play sets, created various teaching aids for her Sunday school classes and for vacation Bible school, and decorated for many banquets. In addition, she led women’s Bible studies and was a woman of daily prayer. Lorie beautified her homes by sewing her own curtains, reupholstering her sofas herself, and planting a wide variety of flowers in her yards.
She expressed her love for friends and family as she hosted many gatherings over the years. Always one for travel, she vacationed across the country, to Europe, Taiwan, and the Caribbean. Saturdays in the fall would find an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan cheering them on.
Lorie was known for having a calm and welcoming nature. Her sweetness and desire to enjoy life with her family and friends endeared her to many. People found her easy to talk with. She cherished keeping up long-term relationships with loved ones through letters, visits, and phone calls.
Mrs. Park is survived by a daughter, Carrie (Rick Heavner) of Greenville, SC; two sons, Phil Park (Betsy) of Annapolis and Matt Park (Trina) of St. Petersburg, Florida; and one brother, George Hagle (Cathy) of Washington DC. Lorie’s seven grandchildren include Krista (Daniel Pennington), Caleb Heavner (Heather), Nathan Heavner, Travis Park (Laura), John Ryan Park, Alec Park, and Abby Park. Great-grandchildren include Gabriella and Owen Pennington, and Hayden Heavner. Lorie is preceded in death by a sister, Myrlene Hugo, and a great-grandson, Josiah Pennington.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield, OH 44902. A memorial service will follow beginning at 1:00 pm. She will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park. The family requests gifts be designated to the Hampton Park Baptist Church Benevolence Fund in Greenville, SC.
