Metta Pearl Metcalf of Ontario passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at her home. She was 102 years old.
She was born August 24, 1919, in Ashland County, Ohio, to the late Sylvia (McCoy) and Earl Roach. A feisty, determined and independent woman right up to the end of her life, Metta Pearl was the spice of life. She had a strong interest in genealogy, antiques, and mushroom hunting. Metta Pearl was a member of a Model A Club and Order of the Eastern Star in her younger years. Metta Pearl felt she lived a good life and felt very blessed.
She is survived by a granddaughter, Angela Whitlatch; three great-grandchildren, Riley, Hope and Daylin; four great-great grandchildren, Sophia and Neveah Sheppard, Riley Francis Jr. and Ellianna Whitlatch; many nieces and nephews; and a good friend, Pam Fugitt and family.
In addition to her parents, Metta Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, F.W. “Hoot” Metcalf; daughter, Marilyn Benson Metcalf; and five sisters.
The family will receive friends from 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park.
