Obituary
Naomi Josephine Sellers-Maglott (Jo) passed away gracefully and peacefully on August 8th, 2022, at the young age of 98.
She was married to Clayton Sellers (deceased 1987) for 43 years. He was a combat pilot with the Army Air Corps. They became engaged when he left for his overseas assignments during WW2 and married upon his return in 1945. Jo then remarried in 2005 to a kind and former high school classmate, Loren "Mac" Maglott (deceased 2011).
Jo was an adoring mother to her daughter Susan (Mark DeLong). She delighted in her grandchildren Paul DeLong, Hallryn DeLong-French (Mike French) and Jillian DeLong-Small (Dan Small) with whom she shared special bonds. She was grateful to have lived long enough to enjoy knowing her eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Howell and Mary (Mapes) Howell, and her siblings, Harold, Leonard, Grace, Esther, and Burnley.
Jo was a dental assistant for 15 years then stepped forward and opened one of the first women only spa and exercise studios in Mansfield. After closing the studio, she then became an executive assistant to the president of Richland Auto Parts. During these years of working full-time, she was very generous with her spare hours: Brownie troop leader, President of the Child Culture League, the Mansfield Women's Club, The Store, and hospital gift store volunteer.
At an age when social ties were often shrinking, Jo modeled how to nurture long time relationships and welcome newcomers into her circle of friends. She was so appreciative of the love and inclusion her friends extended to her. To her friends and family, she was a faithful friend, an excellent listener, sounding board, and giving with her time. Her beaming smile, positive spirit, and easy laugh drew people in.
She had a long love affair with any type of chocolate, anything fun or funny, always handwriting thank you notes promptly, wearing high heels, playing Bridge, shopping for clothes, and, of course, choosing a lipstick to match her endless style show.
She loved her family and friends ardently and none could help but love her in return. She leaves us these gifts of optimism, tenacity, humor, and precious memories of her many excellent examples to follow.
Instead of a funeral, Jo's request was for each of us to continue to nurture old and new friendships and to smile when thinking of her.
The family would like to offer our special appreciation to the whole Primrose Retirement Community. Your friendships and caring concerns were like warm safe arms around her.
Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, Huron, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be shared at www.fosterfh.com.
