NORTH CANTON: Michael L. Robertson, of North Canton, passed away on January 20, following a very brave battle against cancer. He was born in 1943, the son of Floyd and Crystal Robertson, in Kokomo, Indiana.
Mike graduated from the Ohio State University with a degree in Criminal Justice in 1966. He went on to serve for 17 years as a Special Agent of the U.S. Secret Service. He protected three U.S. Presidents, including President Nixon in the White House during Watergate. In 1988, Mike established his private practice, Robertson Investigations, a fraud investigation agency, in North Canton, Ohio. He was a Forensic Document Examiner and served thousands of clients nationwide and abroad. Mike treated all people with compassion and respect.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Billie of North Canton; oldest son and business partner, Scott C. Robertson; his daughter, Hallie E. Robertson and son-in-law John W. Denman of Copley, Ohio; son and daughter-in-law, Ford E. & Marie S. Robertson, of Tel Aviv, Israel; and his brother, James Robertson of Richmond, Indiana.
In addition to reading and remaining well informed in current events and politics, Mike enjoyed astronomy and spending time with family and friends, cooking and grilling outdoors, and, playing competitive croquet and bocce. Countless adopted pets, stray cats and dogs over many decades have his generosity and compassion to thank for their care. The formerly stray twin brother cats, Jack & Ian, were his most beloved.
The family held a private memorial service at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, in Canton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in his name to the American Lung Association or the Animal Protection Guild (3124 Ninth St, SW, Canton, OH 44710).
