DOROTHY JAYNE MCBRIDE
Born: August 7th, 1944
Died: May 12th, 2025
Location: LS - 82 - A2
Obituary
Dorothy Jayne McBride went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Avita Health System-Ontario Hospital after waging a valiant battle with two lung diseases.
Dottie was born August 7, 1944, in Mount Gilead, Ohio, to the late Harry K. and Valma (Volk) Allbaugh. She married Leonard McBride on June 2, 1963, and was just 21 days short of their 62nd wedding anniversary. Known to most as “Dot” or “Dottie”, Leonard affectionately called her “Honey” the entire time they were together. Dottie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many.
She was a member of First Church of God for 60+ years (KNA Avenue Church) and most recently attended First Wesleyan Church in Ontario. She retired from Sears in 2012 and previously worked at JCPenney and Swallens. In her free time, Dottie enjoyed playing games with family and friends, especially Aggravation, Euchre and Ten Penny. She genuinely enjoyed every moment spent with her grandchildren playing Scrabble and cards.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Leonard McBride; three children, Brenda (Randy) Hanlon, Kimberly Constable, and Anthony (Kary) McBride; three grandchildren, Jessica (Tim) Theodorou, Arielle (David) Constable and Anna McBride; a sister, Helen Caldwell; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Malcolm, Tom and Paul Sheehe; six sisters, Mary Alice Farnsworth, Shirley Brumenshenkel, Rose Achorn, Peggy Greene, Margaret Poland and Sandra McBride; and two infant siblings.
The family will receive friends from 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Diego Sandino Bustos officiating. She will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
