Obituary
SUNBURY: Steven D. Oberlander, 68, of Sunbury, passed away at home, Friday evening, October 8, 2021 following a courageous battle with cancer.
The son of William and Violet Jean (Schnitzer) Oberlander, Steven was born August 5, 1953 in Mansfield and graduated from Lexington High School in 1971. He earned his Associates Degree in Electronics from North Central Technical College. Steven worked for Xerox ComDoc as a service technician.
On July 22, 1973 he married the love of his life, Brenda Meyers.
Steven was an avid collector of Star Wars toys and vintage toys of the 1950’s era. He appreciated the classic western movies as well as jazz and big band music. He enjoyed working on cars and was his family’s “Mr. Fix It”.
A loving grandpa, more than anything he cherished his family. Steven was hard working and a dependable provider who rarely missed work.
He is survived by his loving wife Brenda Oberlander of Sunbury; son Justin (Jackie) Oberlander of Westerville, and daughter Amy (Robert) Ng of Sunbury; grandchildren Madison, Mackenzie, and Brooklyn Oberlander and Teagan and Trevin Ng; siblings James (Debra) Oberlander, Cynthia Simmering, and Nancy (Gene) Hale; close cousin Mike Simmons; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his infant sisters Carol and Carla.
Steven’s family will receive friends Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 4-7 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will be Friday at 11 am. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Bladder Cancer Society may be made at the funeral home.
