Lola J. Calderhead, age 95 of Mansfield, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital under hospice care.
Lola was born March 25, 1926, in Johnsville the 7th child of Frank & Besse (Windbigler) Bemiller. She grew up on the family farm during the Great Depression and learned the lifelong skills of hard work and frugality. She was a 1944 graduate of Johnsville High School and met decorated Army serviceman, James Calderhead, whom she married on June 27, 1948.
In addition to raising 3 kids, Lola worked at Reese Optical and did the books for their family business, MidOhio Radiator on Illinois Ave in Mansfield. She was an active member of Lincoln Heights Gospel Chapel in Mansfield where she previously served as Treasurer and Sunday School teacher.
Lola enjoyed shopping auctions and garage sales to find deals on antiques and furniture that she touched up and resold. She will be remembered as an independent woman who always kept true to her word. She thoroughly enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and her family will treasure the photo albums she made.
She is survived by her children Linda (Les) Campbell of Gahanna, James Mark (Judy) Calderhead of Lexington, Scott Calderhead of Mansfield; daughter-in-law Donna Calderhead; grandchildren Jamie, Heather, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Caleb, James, Hannah, Abigail, Jenah, and Aaron; 7 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to her loving husband James Calderhead, Lola was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Gaynelle Scott, Vera Miller, Eva McGuire, Iris Perrin, Clarence Bemiller, Everett Bemiller, and Lee Bemiller.
Snyder Funeral Homes, Lexington Avenue Chapel is honored to serve the Calderhead family with burial services in Mansfield Memorial Park where Lola will be laid to rest beside her husband. Memorials are suggested to Grace Evangelical Free Church, 536 Kentucky Ave, Mansfield, OH 44905. A celebration of life service will be announced at a future date.
