Karl E. Stirtzinger, 67, of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, September 19, 2020 at his home.
Karl was born on November 19, 1952 in Mansfield, to Phillip and Wilhamina “Minnie” (Schwaner) Stirtzinger. He was a 1971 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School, and had retired from Bunting Bearings Corp. Music was a huge part of Karl’s life. He was the bass guitarist for the 1970’s band, Dragonfly. He was a big supporter of the band Grendl, and was a mentor for his nephew, David, who played in that band. He was influential to two of his nephews Greg and Tom, encouraging them to play the saxophone. Karl’s sweet personality and big heart, along with his musical talents, will be missed.
He is survived by a special niece, Tonya Brown, who loved and cared for him, making sure he always had what he needed, (He often referred to her as “The Warden”), along with other nieces and nephews, David Stirtzinger, Greg Hayes, Tim Hayes, Mike Hayes, Jamie Hayes, Becky Smith, Joyce Brose, Brenda Campos, Todd Stirtzinger, and Tony Stirtzinger; and former wife, who he remained friends with, Cindy (Roland) Peters.
Karl was preceded in death by his parents; and three siblings, David L. Stirtzinger, Jacqueline Hayes, and Phillip Stirtzinger.
Calling hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Werner Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Mansfield Memorial Park.
