MANSFIELD: William A. Taylor (79) son of Robert and Emily Taylor of Mansfield lost his hard-fought battle with Dementia on October 5, 2021.
He was born September 29, 1942 in Mansfield to parents Robert & Emily Taylor. Bill graduated from Mansfield Senior High in 1960 where he was a part of the swimming, wrestling and football teams. He went on to Bowling Green University and even played football there before attending Cleveland State University where he earned his master’s in mathematics. Bill had a love for football! He played semi-pro football with the Columbus Bucks and his love of football lasted way beyond his personal playing days.
He worked for over 25 year at Ohio Bell, turned AT&T, until he retired in 1998. Bill even refereed high school football games for over 15 years.
One of his greatest passions was Ohio State football. He passed this on to his children, Go Buckeyes! Bill was a member at Crossroads Church and a special memory to both himself and his son was when his son baptized him on December 15, 2013.
He is survived by his sister Betty Foster (of Washington), his son, Doug (Kelly) Taylor (of Mansfield), his daughter Dawne Taylor (of Charleston, SC) and grandchildren Mya (Austin) Ragan (of Cedarville, OH) and Derric Taylor. Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
His family will receive friends 9-10 am Thursday, October 14, 2021 in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park at 10:30 am. Pastor Dave Vance will officiate.
