MR. FLANNERY WAS BORN DECEMBER 2, 1937 IN SANDY HOOK, KY, AND WAS A MANSFIELD AREA RESIDENT SINCE 1964. UNTIL RETIREMENT, HE WAS EMPLOYED WITH IDEAL ELECTRIC FOR 25 YEARS, MOSTLY AS AN ASSEMBLY/WINDER.
HE ATTENDED COOK ROAD BAPTIST CHURCH AND ENJOYED BLUE GRASS MUSIC, GARDENING, AND HIS MORNING WALK AT THE MALL.
HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE, CHRISTINE THACKER FLANNERY; TWO STEPSONS, CARL D. SANDERS OF SHELBY AND RICHARD A. SANDERS OF MANSFIELD; STEP DAUGHTER, DEBRA VEKAS OF MEDINA; NINE GRANDCHILDREN, MOTHER, BETHEL SKAGGS FLANNERY, FIVE SISTERS, AUDREY FANNIN OF SPRING LAKE, NC, VIRGINIA OWENS OF HARTSVILLE, TN, LEAH JEAN SIMMONS, ELLA LOIS TURNER AND RHONDA RHOADES, ALL OF MANSFIELD; HIS SPECIAL PET, SELENA; AND NUMEROUS NIECES AND NEPHEWS. HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY FATHER, CLAYTON FLANNER SR, IN 1977.
