Fannie (Costo) Switzer
Fannie (Costo) Switzer, 90, went home to our Lord Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at the St. Anthony North Health Campus in Westminster, CO, after recently suffering a stroke.
She had lived a contented life with Jim and Kathy Switzer, her son and daughter-in-law, in Northglenn, CO for the past five years.
She was born to the late Steve and Elizabeth (Weingartner) Costo on Oct. 11,1930 in Mansfield, Ohio.
She was a 1949 graduate of Mansfield Senior High, where she was involved in Pep Club and Blue Tri.
She married the love of her life, James Kenneth Switzer, Sr. on April 7, 1951. They lived a fulfilled life raising three children: James Kenneth, Jr. (Kathy Alley) CO, John (Lori Ann Whisler) FL and Lori Lynn (Anthony) Chambers MO. They loved playing golf. They also enjoyed buying, selling and collecting flea market finds together, such as coins, stamps and antiques. He left her too soon in 1979.
She is survived by her three children, 11 grandchildren Bonnie (Rory) Giles Australia, James Switzer III CO, Elinor (Ryan) Smith Australia, Hannah Switzer CO, Kara Switzer AZ , Jennifer (Alec) Covington FL, Carl Switzer AZ, Stephanie Snyder FL, Karielle (Andrew) Reichert TX, Lora Switzer AZ, Karsyn Chambers MO, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her three siblings: Angeline (Phillip) Brumenshenkel in 2008, "brother" John Costo in 2019 and "brother" Jim Costo in 2006 and one grandson Michael Switzer in 2015.
Fannie was love! She loved her Lord, her family, friends, life and travel. She was very personable. Sitting in the airport or next to her on a plane, you were likely to enjoy her stories. She visited her children all over the US and the world.
She became a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ashland in 1957. She was active in Stephen Ministries and the library, as well as a children's Sunday school teacher.
A mother and homemaker for much of her life, she was also employed as a matron at the Ashland Sheriff Dept, office manager at B & B Masonry and at PCA Ashland, where she enjoyed maintaining the break room.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 24th from 12:00 to 1:00 at the First Presbyterian Church of Ashland with services immediately following. Interment will follow at Mansfield Memorial Park in Ontario. Friends and family are welcome.
Memorial donations may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
