Walter “Fish-On” John Weber Jr., 80, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. Born and raised in Mansfield, he was born on September 27, 1942 to the late Walter Sr. and Helen (Davidson) Weber.
Walter retired as an EAF Operator from Empire Detroit Steel and previously coached little league baseball. A loving husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa, he cherished time spent with his family and friends, especially traveling with his wife on cruises to Alaska and Hawaii. He enjoyed traveling with retirees from the Steel Mill to the Smokey Mountains and loved to ride the trolley. Walter loved his dogs and attending old cruise-in car shows. He also enjoyed the outdoors and had a lifelong passion for fishing and hunting. He was a member of Mid-Ohio Walleye Club and an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Walter is survived by his wife, Madolynn Weber; children, Walter (Deborah) Weber III, Keith (Deborah) Weber, Ryan (Carla) Weber and Candi Weber; brothers and sisters, Carolyn (Ron) Gaumer, Katherine Schacherer, Bill (Brenda) Weber and Nancy (Rich) Hartman; sister-in-law, Rosemary (John) Napier; grandchildren, Brandon (Kayla) Weber, Justin (Paige) Weber, April (Nate) Klein, Tyler (Sabine) Weber, Kyle (Heather) Weber, Emily (Jonathan) Hall, Jared (Jamie) Weber, Drew Ickes, Brittany (Gabriel) Angel, Brandon Wiles and Sydney Weber; great-grandchildren, Kade, Jaxson, Myles, Ava and Nola; dog, Nick; and all his special fishing buddies. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Ontario, OH 44906. A service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, November 7, 2022 beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Paul Turner officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1592 Grace Street, Mansfield, OH 44905.
