MANSFIELD: Margaret E. “Peggy” Wyatt, 92, of Mansfield passed into the arms of her Savior, June 12, 2022 at Liberty Nursing Center of Mansfield.
The daughter of David and Lois (Wolff) Cole, Peggy was born January 25, 1930 in Mansfield and graduated from Mansfield Senior High in 1948. While in school she began dating Donald Wyatt, the two married on July 24, 1949, in Park Avenue Baptist Church. The pair settled in Mansfield where they raised three children. Peggy and Don were active and faithful members at Park Avenue. She loved the Lord, and enjoyed private devotions with Don each morning over coffee.
From a young age, Peggy understood the value of hard work, as she worked at the family store, Doc Coles Neighborhood Store.
Her servant’s heart was also evident in her volunteer work. Peggy volunteered for the American Red Cross, FISH Food Pantry, Camp Green Lake Conference Center (a Christian camp in Wisconsin), and also volunteered as an election poll worker.
Peggy was an excellent baker. Her homemade cut-out cookies were family favorites. Peggy and Don loved to travel and looked forward to the many family get-togethers at Oak Island, North Carolina. The two also traveled to England and Hawaii as well as enjoyed numerous vacations over the years.
Peggy will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandma. Devoted to her faith, she was blessed with a servant’s heart.
She is survived by her children, Steve (Jean) Wyatt of Fredericktown, Debbie (Dick) Snavely of Lexington, and David (Karen) Wyatt of Lexington; 7 grandchildren Megan (Brent) Shumaker, Bethany (Dustin) Roe, Greg (Stef) Wyatt, Kaleb (Amy) Snavely, Cole Snavely (Abbey Metz), Rachel (Antiwan) Corbin, and Kane (Alecia) Wyatt; 23 great-grandchildren Luke, Owen, Elise, Camille, Jack, Dave, Zoe, Anastasia, Elliana, Cody (Mary), Alexis (April), Whitney, Ethan, Ava, T.J., Xavier, Cadance, Mahkai, Tyler, Alex, Brooklyn, Ari, and Maleia; 4 great-great-grandchildren Peyton, Rosie, Malcolm and Anthony; sister Becky (Rich) Hanks of Niles; sister-in-law Pat Wilson of VA and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Along with her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Donald Wyatt and sister Dorothy Guthrie.
The Wyatt family will receive friends 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday, June 17, 2022, at Snyder Funeral Homes (350 Marion Avenue in Mansfield). A funeral service celebrating Peggy’s life will begin at 12:00 PM. Burial in Mansfield Memorial Park will follow the service.
