Richard L. Geog
January 16, 1947 - July 19, 2021
Richard L. Geog, 74, of Ontario, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 19, 2021 at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital.
The son of Emerson and Pearl (Pigman) Giauque, Richard was born on January 16, 1947 in Millersburg, Ohio. Richard loved the Lord and lived his life spreading kindness and Christian love to everyone he came in contact with. Richard was a proud Veteran of the United States Army where he served during the Vietnam War as a Sergeant. Richard knew what a hard days work was about, he retired as a skilled welder after thirty six and a half years from General Motors. After retirement, Richard stayed busy as a chauffer of the Amish. He married the love of his life, Connie Sue on November 7, 1969, and the two built a wonderful life together. He spoiled her and loved to take care of her including singing to her. A family man, Richard loved his children as each were very special to him, and his grandchildren were a blessing to him. Every year, Richard and his family would enjoy their annual vacation to the condo in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Many fond cherished memories were made during these trips. An avid coin collector, Richard would search out a good sale looking for his next purchase. He loved the outdoors, cutting wood, and gardening where he planted all kinds of vegetables. He loved canning peaches and tomatoes. He was an amazing card player and loved playing cards. He loved cats and it was easy for him to take in a stray. He loved to joke and play pranks, making others laugh brought him joy. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.
He leaves behind his wife, Connie Sue (Smith) Geog; his daughters, Laura S. (Bill) Allen of Avon, Ohio, and Lisa S. Geog-Huffman of Mansfield; his cherished grandchildren, Zachary (Maria) Allen of Wellington, Ohio, Ashley (Josè) Leal of North Olmstead, Ohio, Cal N. Huffman of Auburn Hills, Michigan, and Valerie E. Huffman of Wooster, Ohio; and his brothers, Carl Geog of Blissfield, Ohio and Clarence Geog of Killbuck, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, his four brothers, and a sister.
The Geog family will receive guests from 10:00 am-12:00 pm on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington Springmill Road. Pastor Robert Kurtz will officiate the funeral service beginning immediately at 12:00 pm. Richard will be laid to rest at Mansfield Memorial Park with full military honors being performed by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad.
