Obituary
Richard Hipp, 78, of Mansfield, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital following a courageous battle with liver cancer.
Richard was born in Mansfield on September 23, 1944, to Wilford and Ruth Boughton Hipp. He retired from the Mansfield News Journal after many years of service. Rick was a Vietnam Veteran, serving as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne. He proudly wore his many Vietnam hats. Rick had a fun personality and liked to joke around a lot. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed sitting on his porch with his precious dog, Chico, whom he loved dearly. Rick attended Hannah Road Church of God and thought a lot of the members there.
Richard is survived by his step-children: son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Dana Page; daughter and son-in-law, DeeDee and Paul Lee; daughter, Robin Craig; and son and his girlfriend, Eric Oney and Dina all of Mansfield; nine step-grandchildren, Tabatha (Roy) Thompson, Chad (Erin) Page, Touby Page, Amanda (Tim) Parsons, Josh (Katie) Lee, Amber Page, Jade Kline, Felicia Page, and Jamie Sparks; and thirteen great-grandchildren. He never referred to us as anything but his children and grandchildren. We were his family and loved him dearly.
Richard was preceded in death by the love of his life, Sandra Hipp; his parents; his grandparents, Henry and Isar Boughton; brother, Dave Hipp; stepson, Gregory Page; and step-granddaughter, Hope Brady.
Calling hours will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2023 and from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2023, at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, ltd., 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield, OH. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2023, at the funeral home with Pastor Ferly Yates officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park with full military honors performed by Richland Co. Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
