Gerald T. McCabe, 90, of Mansfield, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 21, 2021.
Gerald was born October 15, 1931, in McCunville, Ohio, to Francis T. and Margaret L. (Morris) McCabe. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Gerald was married to the love of his life for almost 70 years, Elvena (Mabry) McCabe on March 10, 1952, and she survives. Gerald was a minister for approximately 50 years, and during that time, he started five churches in Ohio, Michigan, and Nevada. After he retired from the ministry, he and Elvena became members of Mansfield Baptist Temple. He enjoyed yard work and cooking.
Along with his wife, Elvena, he is survived by his children, Lora (Edward) Dube of Battle Creek, Michigan, Larry (Vickie) McCabe and Len McCabe, both of Mansfield; grandchildren, Lisa Dube, Elissa (Trent) Davis, and Melanie (Tim) Jollay; great-grandchildren, Peyton, Presley, Alivia, and Zayne; siblings, Rosalee Hupp and Albert McCabe; and grandpups, Wesley and Sonny.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter and her husband, Darci and Aaron Brown; and his siblings, Howard McCabe and Sue Miller.
Calling hours will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 26, 2021, at Mansfield Baptist Temple, 752 Stewart Road N, Mansfield, OH 44905. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church, with Gerald’s son, Larry McCabe, officiating and Pastor Robert J. Kurtz, of Mansfield Baptist Temple and Pastor Jim Keesee, of Victory Baptist Church, assisting. Military honors will be performed at the church by the Richland County Joint Veteran’s Burial Detail. Burial will take place in Mansfield Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
