Obituary
David B. Shaffer, age 75 of Mansfield passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022 in Cleveland Clinic following a brief illness.
He was born December 24, 1946 in Mansfield to the late Wilbert D. “Bill” and Dorothy (Butler) Shaffer. Dave was a 1964 graduate of Lexington High School and received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Ohio State University. He worked in the mortgage business and, later on, in marketing.
A lifelong sports fan, Dave played basketball and baseball while a student in the Lexington Schools. He enjoyed following the Ohio State Buckeyes football and basketball teams, the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians/Guardians.
A member of Main Street United Methodist Church, David was a willing and helpful neighbor. He was blessed with a special laugh and a quick wit. Fun loving, he enjoyed family gatherings and had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews.
David is survived by his siblings Linda Zirkel of Mansfield, Fredric and Mary Shaffer of Mansfield, Rebecca and Michael Dorr of Ashland, and Donn and Jolynne Shaffer of Riverview, FL; nieces and nephews Jill (Jim) Mitchell, William Zirkel, David (Julie) Greer, Michael (Kathy) Dorr, David (Jenny) Dorr, and Erin Dorr; along with great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a brother-in-law William Zirkel.
Friends may call Monday, August 1, 2022 from 2-4 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where a service honoring the life of David Shaffer will follow at 4 pm.
