Wade West, 86, of Lexington, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2017. Wade was born on September 1, 1931 to Blanche and Claude West in Mt. Gilead, Ohio.
He served in the Korean War from 1951-1954. Wade retired from Galion Schools as transportation supervisor. Prior to that, he worked at Richland Aviation. Wade earned his pilot license for a single engine plane at that time. Wade enjoyed gardening, working on boats, cars, motor homes, watching all kinds of sports, especially football. He married Nancy and she survives. They were together for 63 years and had three children.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Rhonda Adkins (Art), Gregory West both of Ontario, and Jody Keck (Mark) of Mansfield; grandchildren, Gabe and Nancy Adkins, Shane, Cody, Colton, Kelsie, and Shannon West, and Haydn and Zoe Keck; and great-grandchildren, Seneca, Hadley, Avalynn, and Jalaina. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four sisters, Evelyn Callendar, Ruby Young, and Virginia Salvati and Jestine Strait; and three brothers, Rolan, Don and Floyd West.
Mark Keck, Wade’s son-in-law, will officiate a memorial service at 11:00 am on Friday, December 1, 2017 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. Burial will follow at Mansfield Memorial Park with military honors.
