Douglas E. Shirkey, 66, of Lexington, passed away Friday, July 21, 2023, following a lengthy illness.
Douglas was born April 7, 1957, in Mansfield, to Creighton D. Shirkey and Janis M. (Raymond) Iams Smith.
He was the father of Jennifer Saylor, Janetta (Allen Jr.) Kilgore, and Ronald (Sherry) Shirkey; brother of Beth (Milo) Johnston and Tammy Hensley; and grandfather to many grandchildren.
Douglas was a minister since age 15 and pastor of Faith in Christ Christian Church. He worked for over 30 years at Speedway and loved to play piano and organ. God was his source and strength.
Calling hours will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield. Graveside services will follow at Mansfield Memorial Park with Milo Johnston officiating.
