Saundra Sue Spellman, age 80 of Lexington, passed away June 24, 2022, at home surrounded by family under the care of Hospice NCO. She was reunited in Heaven with her late husband, Dave, who passed in 2019.
She was born on November 8, 1941, in Springfield, MO the daughter of John & Wilma (Patton) Johnson. On November 4, 1961, she married David Lewis Spellman. Saundra dedicated her life to being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker.
Saundra was the founder of the Bellville Safety Town and a teacher’s aide for Bellville Schools & Grace Brethren. Children and volunteering were her true passions. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, taking car rides, and spending time with her family. Saundra was loved by all who knew her and will be missed.
Saundra is survived by her son John L. Spellman of Lexington; her daughter Sherry (David) Spellman Moran of Mansfield; 4 grandchildren Christina (Levi) Hazlett of Navada, OH, Michael Spellman Moran of Mansfield, and Franklin Hildebrand & Hailey Hildebrand of Lexington; 3 great-grandchildren Manuel “Manny” Spellman Moran, Ella Hazlett, and Rayleigh Eagleston; son-in-law Jim Hildebrand; brothers Jerry Johnson & Joe Johnson; as well as many extended family members & friends. A special thank you to Paula Williams for all the help & support she gave to Saundra by staying with her 24/7 in the final months.
In addition to her parents, Saundra was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Dave Spellman; her daughter Tammy Hildebrand in 2021; and brothers Jack Johnson & Jim Johnson.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 28, 2022, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Snyder Funeral Homes, 2553 Lexington Ave, Mansfield, Ohio 44904, where her funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm officiated by Celebrant Dave Roberts. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
