Obituary
James Walker
Mansfield - Jim Walker lived a paradox: he became rich by giving. The more he lived a lifestyle of generosity, sharing of his time and resources, the more his life was enriched. Jim was ever ready to share with someone in need.
James Robert Walker passed into the Lord's care Monday, December 6, 2021 from OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. He was 86.
Born July 14, 1935 in Pittsburgh, PA to parents Andrew and Marie (Atkinson) Walker, he moved to Mansfield at a young age and attended Mansfield Senior High School.
Following his service with the US Navy, Jim began a career in the insurance industry. This led him to establish and operate Ohio Marketing – his own insurance managing general agency.
A longtime member of Lexington Presbyterian Church, Jim immersed himself in the moment – living life to the fullest.
He is survived by his wife Doris (Lehnhart) Walker, whom he married August 9, 1956; their daughters Kathleen (Robert) Mack of Venice, FL, Melinda (Stew) Gerrell of Lexington, and Cynthia (David) Garland of Toledo; grandchildren Paige Mack, Haley Hatcher, Alexander Gerrell, Anthony Gerrell, Caleb McCarroll, Joshua McCarroll, Olivia Garland, Abby Garland, and James Garland; great granddaughters Jovie and Ayva; brothers Andrew (Joann) Walker of Lexington and Harold "Tunie" (Connie) Turnbaugh of Ontario, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step father Harold Turnbaugh; and a brother Ronald Walker.
Though no public funeral service will be held at this time, it is the wish of the Walker family that Jim's generous spirit will inspire you to model his giving. They have chosen the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home for Compassionate Cremation Care. Interment will be in Mansfield Memorial Park.
Contributions in Jim's memory to Lexington Presbyterian Church may be sent to the funeral home: Snyder Funeral Home, PO Box 3085, Mansfield 44904.
