Obituary
MANSFIELD: Margie D. Schuttera, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 17, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Margie was born August 2, 1935, in Athens to parents James and Mildred (Singer) Shafer. Margie graduated from Ashland High School, and met Philip Schuttera while working as a cashier at the local grocery. They were married March 4, 1955 and raised their family in Mansfield.
She later worked for All Prints and Therm-O-Disc for 29 years before her retirement. During retirement, Margie and Philip enjoyed winters in Florida, and later made Englewood their permanent residence. There they were active with many friends playing bingo, dominoes and gathering for card nights.
She was a faithful member of Englewood United Methodist Church in Florida, where she volunteered with pancake breakfasts, rummage sales, and scullery for all church dinners, with her crew “Charlie’s Angels”.
Margie loved all kinds of crafts including sewing, knitting, flower arranging, and toll painting. She was also skilled in calligraphy, photography and clay pot animals. She was a lady’s lady, enjoying shopping and decorating, especially for Christmas- but was also first on the boat at Lake Erie to fish for walleye and perch. Described as very pleasant, Margie had a lovable personality and a made a perfect match with her Philip.
Margie is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years Philip Schuttera; daughters Brenda (Zack) Heinberger, and Sheree (Bob) Brown; 10 grandchildren and their families including spouses, great grandchildren, and a great great grandchild, along with nieces, nephews and extended family.
Along with her parents, she is preceded by in death her son Scott Schuttera and two sisters.
Friends may call Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will be held Friday at 10 am. Her great niece Chaplain Joy Cochran will speak and burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
Donations in honor of Margie may be made to Southern Care Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
