Obituary
Mr. Carey Hood Jr, 94, passed away on May 3, 2021. Carey was born on April 24, 1927 in Tuscaloosa, AL to Carey Hood Sr and Roberta Hood.
After graduating from Mansfield Senior High School he enlisted in the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He was employed by the GSA, U.S Postal Service and Mansfield City Schools. He was a long time member of Mitchell Chapel AME Church and current member of Turner Chapel AME Church in Crestline and served as a Chief Stewart and Trustee at both churches. Carey was also a member of VFW Post 4493.
He is preceeded in death by his parents Carey Hood Sr and Roberta Hood; son Elvin Eugene Hood; brothers, John, Wesley, Charlie, Robert, Leon, Jerry, James and Bernard and sister, Mary Belle Adkinson.
Carey is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marjorie Hood; son Michael Hood; daughter, Lesley (Paul) Simpson; sister, Dorothy Boyd; five grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter
and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation 10:00am followed by Funeral Service at 11:00am Monday,May 10, 2021 at MARLAN GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE MANSFIELD, 753 McPherson St. (formerly Williams Funeral Service). Mask, Social Distancing and Tickets are required for Visitation and Funeral Interment at Mansfield Memorial Park.
