Obituary
Richard Wallace “Dick” Frederici age 85 of Mansfield, Ohio has entered now into the joy of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, November 18, 2022, while in hospice care at OhioHealth Mansfield. Born May 19th, 1937 to Wallace and Mary (Will) Frederici in Mansfield he was the oldest of three siblings that include his sisters, Barbara Barr (David “Bud” Barr) of Lexington and Eileen Amspoker (Ron Amspoker) of Gainesville, Florida.
Richard survived by his wife of 63 years Mary Lou, and two of his three sons: Richard “Brad” Frederici (Carin) of Mansfield and Jon “Scott” Frederici (Pam) of Bellville. He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Steven Todd Frederici, age 58 on April 25, 2021.
Dick has four grandchildren, Jared, Tim (Emily), Austin (Hannah) and Garret; two great granddaughters Piper and Presley; brothers-in-law Donald (Rose) Owens and Glenn (Linda) Martin of greater Los Angeles, CA. He also had many nieces and nephews.
Dick graduated from Mansfield Senior high school in 1955 where he was active in sports, football, basketball and baseball. In 1957, he was one of the founding employees of the iconic “Leaning Tower of Pizza” where he had a hand in the original sub and pizza recipes. He left there in 1965 to move his family to Southern California before moving back to Mansfield in 1966 and starting his career at Continental Bakery as a route salesman retiring from there in 1995 followed by 8 years of part time employment at Sears.
It was Dick‘s faith in Jesus Christ that gave him real hope and grounded him, Dick spent many years as a member Berean Baptist Church, serving Jesus Christ as a teacher, and a deacon, but really loved his men’s group Bible studies, home Bible studies and in his role in discipling others. Seeing lives grow in Christ gave him great joy. He learned the value of discipleship early on through his friend, and spiritual mentor in the faith Lonnie Willis, whose witness played a major role in his coming into a relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus.
Later in life Dick also enjoyed repairing and refurbishing vintage radios, gardening and keeping the yard in tip top shape but really loved traveling with Mary Lou and just spending time with family… Always a quick wit, full of puns and may have been the originator of many “bad dad” jokes. Dick will be missed but really is “home”.
Friends may call Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 1 pm to 2:30 pm at the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where a service remembering the life of Richard W. Frederici and glorifying God and our Lord and Savior will be held at 2:30. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Dick’s family is confident in the promise of heaven and knows Dick would love to be reunited someday with all of his friends and family there.
