Obituary
MANSFIELD: Margaret Eileen “Peggy” (Mullane) Lee, 92, of Mansfield passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital following a short illness.
The daughter of Thomas and Margaret Eileen (Nesbitt) Mullane, Peggy was born September 30, 1927 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and graduated from Frankford High School in Philadelphia.
Peggy married the love of her life, William “Bill” Lee on September 6, 1947. The two were first introduced by her brother, Tom. Bill preceded her in death 32 years ago. They were soul mates.
Peggy…the name she answered to, was a stay at home mom, whose job was taking care of and raising 5 children with her devoted husband Bill. Family meant everything to them.
Friendly and hospitable, Peggy enjoyed her Mansfield neighborhood where she lived for many decades. She was a member of the MNO (Mom’s Night Out) Club. The MNO met monthly to play cards and enjoy the company of friends.
She enjoyed baking, and often gave away her delicious baked goods. She also made the best macaroni and cheese and chocolate pudding.
Later in life Peggy took up tap dancing. She was in her 60’s performing dance recitals! She enjoyed taking bus and train trips with friends, traveling from one coast to the other. A favorite trip was flying to Bath, Maine for the commissioning of the USS John S. McCain (her grandson Bryan’s first ship assignment while in the Navy).
Peggy’s faith was strong. She was a past member of the Linden Road Presbyterian Church and recent member at Main Street United Methodist Church.
She will be remembered for her friendly smile.
Peggy is survived by her children William “Rusty” (Kathi) Lee, Diane Lee-Smith (Timothy Smith), Nancy (Robert) Sipko, Randy (Kathy) Lee, and Brad (Mary) Lee; grandchildren Bill (Suzy) Lee, Bryan (Beth) Hatheway, and Kelly Sipko; great-granddaughters Lindsay (Matt) Polakowsky and Gracie Youngs; as well as nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Along with her parents and husband Bill Lee, she was preceded in death by her brother Tom (Alice) Mullane as well as her best friend Althea Humphrey.
A memorial gathering will be held Thursday, August 20, 2020 from 1-3 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. Private burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Richland County Humane Society, 3025 Park Avenue West, Mansfield, Ohio 44906.
Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Wedgewood Estates, the Area Agency on Aging and OhioHealth Hospice for the attentive care given to Peggy.
