Obituary
Donna L. (Joseph) Goddard, 91, of Mansfield, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022, surrounded by her loving family, with her granddaughter, Aimee holding her hand, singing, How Great Thou Art as she passed to the other side.
Donna was born on May 20, 1930, in Zanesville, to Ralph and Mildred (Ayres) Joseph. Donna married the love of her life, Leonard J. Goddard, on September 6, 1947, and he preceded her in death on June 6, 2015. She retired at Rite Aid after 25 years. She was a long time member of Mayflower Congregational Church. Donna was a very loving mother, grandmother and friend. She was always giving of herself to others, and never liked to be the center of attention. Many special memories with her family include family camping, traveling cross country, always enjoying giving gifts taking pictures of her family (even when she didn’t have any film in the camera), and making her famous shredded chicken sandwiches, that her grandchildren always said were made with love. Donna enjoyed talking on the phone with her granddaughter, Colleen, about updates on their favorite soap opera, The Young and the Restless. Donna also enjoyed her canine friends.
She is survived by her children, Dale (Gala) Goddard of Bellville and Kathy (York) Oswalt of Mansfield; four granddaughters, Aimee Jerger, Colleen (Adam) Decaire, Emily Oswalt, and Amanda Oswalt; great-grandchildren, Patrick Jerger, Alex Jerger, Zane Jerger, Mackenzie Jerger, Zachary Decaire, Ryan Decaire, Zoey Decaire, Emersyn Wood, Brynlee Wood, and Elliot Wood; brother, Jim Joseph, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, Leonard, Donna was preceded in death by her beloved son that she has missed for six years, Steven J. Goddard; siblings, Eugene (Roz) Joseph and Phyllis (Dick) Erndt; and sister-in-law, Jo Joseph.
Graveside services will be held at a later date, at Mansfield Memorial Park.
Werner Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Ave. East, Mansfield, is handling the arrangements.
