Kahte “Katie” Schmidt passed away, Tuesday, December 27, 2022. She was born October 7, 1928 in Romania. Kahte left Romania and came to America in 1950. Later she met and married George Schmidt and they made their home in Mansfield.
Kahte worked cleaning houses and cooking for families in Mansfield. She loved to shop at Reeds. She was a member of the Leiderkrantz where she would go to dance and spend time with her friends. Kahte was a great cook and baker.
Kahte is survived by her son, Richard (Kathy) Schmidt; granddaughter, Jackie; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Dan, Austin, Ava and Elli; great-great-grandchild, Rowen; step-granddaughter, Tiffany; step-great-grandson, Michael; and great-great-granddaughter, Mylah, all of Mansfield; sister, Vicki of Romania.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Schmidt; sons, Walter Schmidt, Eric Schmidt and Frederick Schmidt; and sister, Anna.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 5, 2023 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Mansfield Memorial Park with Pastor Matt Pond officiating. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family.
