Norman S. Trumpower, 77, of Mansfield, died Sunday, March 11, 2007 at Firelands Regional Medical Center. Born August 3, 1929 in Mansfield, he was the son of Stanley Schmunk and Catherine Yahraus Schmunk Trumpower. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1946-1948. He was employed at Dominion Electric, Essex Wire, Con-Val, and retired from Gruman Flxible, where he was a cost analyst. He was a member of McElroy Road Church of Christ. He graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in mechanical engineering and was quarterback of the football team. He loved socializing and helping people. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with his children and family. He also enjoyed playing and watching football, watching movies, swimming, diving, and playing bingo.
He is survived by his wife, Iris Keinath Trumpower; children and their spouses, Kay McNaul of Mansfield, Mike Valerie Trumpower of Scottsdale, Arizona, Patricia Hubbard of Mansfield, Scott LuAnn Trumpower, of Mansfield, Chris Trumpower of Wilmington, North Carolina, Barbara Todd Dilley of Lexington, Sydney Alexander of Wilmington, North Carolina, Tim Traci Trumpower of Mansfield, Nancy Trumpower of Alhambra, California, Pete Chastity Trumpower of Akron, and Jeff Brooke Trumpower of Mansfield; 25 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Preston Pettus; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews; and many dear friends at the Ohio Veteran’s Home in Sandusky. He was preceded in death by his parents; four children, Steven, Debbie, Linda, and Andy Trumpower; sister, Jackie Siebert; brother, Chuck Trumpower; daughter-in-law, Peggy Trumpower; son-in-law, Tom McNaul.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, conducted by minister Frank Moore. Military graveside services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veteran’s Services will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family
