Obituary
MANSFIELD: Janet M. Burget Holtzapple, 88, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, January 30, in her home.
Janet was born on July 20, 1931 to Walter A. and Ilo Staver Burget in Lima, OH. She graduated in 1949 from Lima Shawnee High School. After high school, Janet went to nursing school and graduated in 1952 with an RN degree from Lima Memorial School of Nursing.
In 1951 she married her high school sweetheart Donald Holtzapple who she was married to for 62 1/2 years until his homegoing in 2014.
Being raised on a farm, Janet was used to hard work, which carried through to the rest of her life. Janet loved Jesus with all her heart and was passionate about sharing that love of Jesus with others. Being a pastors wife, she was always very involved in church activities. As a nurse, Janet worked in hospital, doctor’s office, and nursing home settings throughout her career. Janet loved spending time with her family and friends who will all greatly miss her. She was a beloved mom, Mammaw, and friend. She was instrumental in starting a widows lunch group that met each Friday. Janet enjoyed playing games, doing jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, being involved in Bible studies, and going on trips with some of her close friends.
Janet attended Berean Baptist Church where she had been involved with MOPS and Child Evangelism Fellowship at Eastview elementary.
Janet is survived by a son, Philip (Barb) Holtzapple, daughter Laura (Jack) Martin, and daughter Carol (Jim) Underwood, 9 grandchildren, Nathan (Anita) Holtzapple, Erin (Brahm) Olds, Tara (Jason) Smith, Joni (Johnny) Boyd, Amanda (Jeremy) Buskirk, Abby (Jamin) Hughes, Travis (Lindsey) Underwood, Tyler Underwood, and Tanner Underwood, 17 great grandchildren plus one on the way, and one brother, Norman Burget of Florida, many nieces and nephews, and many treasured friends.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Helen Mueller, and Dorothy Verbryke, 2 brothers, Richard Burget, and Gail Burget.
A special thanks to Hospice of North Central Ohio for their excellent care for Janet during her illness.
A memorial service celebrating Janet’s life will be held Thursday, February 6, at 12:00 pm with calling hours from 10am -12pm at Berean Baptist church. Private graveside services in Mansfield Memorial Park will be held at a later date.
