Ellouise Rosamond (Phegley) Mohan, age 94 of Delaware and formerly of Mansfield, passed away on December 8, 2022, at The Inn at Olentangy Trail.
Ella was born in Cazenovia, NY on June 24, 1928, to Eva and Roscoe Smith, the youngest of 6 children. She is survived by 1 sister, Betty Slough, who will soon be 103. In Mansfield, Ella worked for Sears, the Mansfield News Journal, and Richland Bank; she also worked 8 years as a receptionist for a dental office in FL.
Ella was active in sports, playing on her school’s basketball & volleyball teams, and snow skiing in NY. She played tennis until her early 70’s. She loved the visual and performing arts, and could often be heard singing around the house. Ella enjoyed playing songs on the piano that she still remembered from childhood. She loved decorating her home, and took pride in dressing nicely and getting her hair done. In later years, she made greeting cards, creating hundreds of verses.
She married Joe Phegley in 1948, and raised 3 children in Mansfield: Kathy Baron of Columbus, Bill Phegley of Mansfield, and Patricia Westlund (Wes) of Delaware, Ohio. She moved to Florida in 1980, after the passing of her first husband. She married Joe Mohan in 1988. In 2013, she and Joe moved to Powell, Ohio. Her 2nd Joe passed away in 2017. She was also preceded in death by her 1st grandson, Richard Joe Baron, in 1988.
In addition to her 3 children, she is survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jenny & Dave Hughes with their children Thomas and Liam; Sarah & Chad Miley with their children Avery and Sydney; Joe Phegley with his children Connor, Finn, and Willow; Andy Stover; and Dominick Westlund. She is also survived by Joe Mohan’s grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of life visiting hours, with wine and charcuterie, will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Snyder Funeral Homes, Marion Avenue Chapel (350 Marion Ave, Mansfield, OH 44903) where her service will begin at 2:00 PM officiated by Celebrant Dave Roberts. Burial will be at Mansfield Memorial Park (2507 Park Ave W, Ontario, OH 44906).
