Obituary for Ossie Pearl Martin
Mansfield, Mother Ossie Pearl Martin, 91, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, January 9, 2023, at Arbors of Mifflin.
Mother Martin was born in Andalusia, AL, to the late Sheb Feagin and Ethel Mae Turk-Feagin.
She moved to Mansfield, Ohio, with her husband for 60 years, the late Elder Rufus Martin, where she resided for over 73 years. She retired from Westinghouse and became a full-time housewife/mother.
Mother Martin was a dedicated and faithful member of Temple of Faith COGIC, under the late Elder L. G. Maddox and Maddox Memorial COGIC under the late Elder Aaron William Jr.
Mother Martin was president of the Hospitality Committee, a member of the Sewing Circle, Outreach, and an awesome Sunday School Teacher, among other auxiliaries.
Mother Ossie Martin became First Lady and Co-Founder of Faith Temple COGIC, beside her husband the late Elder Rufus Martin for over 28 years. She continued to be a faithful servant at Faith Temple COGIC. Under the leadership of Pastor William Jordan, whom she loved dearly, for her remaining days. She was a true woman of God, encouraging those around her, a lover of God’s Word and a mother to all people.
Mother Martin leaves to mourn her sons, Robert “Rufus Jr.”, of Mansfield, Eugene Martin, of Los Angeles, CA, and Ronald John Martin, of Columbus; daughters, Linda Johnson, of Columbus, and Charlotte Martin, of Mansfield; eight grandchildren, Antonio Martin, Chez (Kelli) Walker, Tyra (Brandon) Martin-Long, Crystal Martin, Lawanda Rutledge, Manque’ James, and Aretha Ellis; a host of great and great-great grandchildren; sister-in-love, Mother Gloria Feagin; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Mother Martin was preceded by her parents; husband, Elder Rufus Martin; son, James Edward Martin; daughter, Doris Jean Tyson; two grandchildren, Sidney J. Walker III and Ronetta Martin-Henderson; son -in-love, Arthur Johnson.
The services will be held Sunday, January 22, 2023, at 4 pm, with one-hour prior calling to the services at Faith Temple COGIC, 506 Daisy St., Mansfield, Ohio, with Rev. William Jordan officiating. The interment will be Monday, January 23rd, 2023, at 11 am, Mansfield Memorial Park.
The family has entrusted Small’s Funeral Services with the arrangements.
