Shirley A. (Thomas) Ward, 75, of Mt. Vernon, went to be with her Lord and Savior, on Tuesday, October 27, 2020.
Shirley was born on March 23, 1945, in Orville, WV, to Dewey and Pearl (Roop) Thomas. She married the love of her life, Paul, and they’ve been married for nearly 58 years. She loved to sew, cook, bake and sing. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She devoted most of her life to serving God and worked in various ministries in the church. Her biggest desire was to see her loves ones serving God.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Ward; Children, Danita (Larry) Means, Russell J. (Rachelle) Ward, and Wendy Gibson; ten grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sibling, Fred Thomas.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; son, Paul M. Ward; granddaughter, Hali Schneider; great-granddaughter, Alayah Flannery; and siblings, Ken Thomas, Richard Thomas, Ralph Thomas, Raymond Thomas, Patty Schumate and Carl Thomas.
Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2020 and 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 30, 2020 at Mansfield Stewart Road Church of God, 1425 N. Stewart Road, Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 30, 2020 at the church with Pastor Tim Overly officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
