Ruth Novak was a resident of The Laurels of Mt. Vernon, Ohio where she passed away on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2021.
Ruth was born in Mansfield in 1929 to George Franklin, Sr. and Beatrice Franklin. After graduating from Madison Rural High School with the class of 1947, she attended cosmetology school. In 1951, she married George Novak and together they celebrated 22 years of marriage until he passed away in 1973.
Ruth was owner operator of a beauty salon located in her home in Mansfield for many years. She also assisted her sister Juanita, owner of Park Avenue West Cleaners in Mansfield.
Ruth collected and refinished antiques. She enjoyed working in her yard, solving crossword puzzles, sewing, gardening, canning, baking pies and cookies, and decorating her home for holidays. She continued to climb ladders into her 80’s to paint and maintain the exterior of her home where she resided for over 60 years.
Ruth was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Mansfield.
Ruth is survived by her children Juanita (Ron) Bond, Kimmerly (Ken) Kasper, Randall Novak, and Michael (Becky) Novak; grandchildren Katie Gatten, Ruthie Bond, Stephanie Bond, Tim Bond, and Elisha Novak; great grandchildren Malik Bond, Alayzia Hammock, Labrae Bond, Zach Bond, Brody Gatten, Hayden Gatten, Slater Gatten, Sahar Bond, and Jasohn Bond; nieces and nephews Janet Harper, Lynette Brewer, George Franklin, Georgine Crisp, Cindy Hill, and Cheryl Edwards.
In addition to her parents and her loving husband George, she was preceded in death by siblings Marguerite Howman, Lyman ‘Bud’ Franklin, George Franklin, Jr, and Juanita Hill; nephew Gene Howma; and nieces, Darlene Enos and Sharon Elliott.
A private burial is planned in Mansfield Memorial Park. Snyder Funeral Homes, Lexington Avenue Chapel is honored to serve the family.
