Mary Jane Briggs Obituary
Mary “Jane” Briggs peacefully passed away just before dawn on September 6th with her loving husband by her side.

Jane was the fourth child of five children to Lester and June Hamrick and was born in Lancaster Ohio hospital on April 28, 1948. Jane spent her first 12 years of her life living in idyllic Pleasantville Ohio with her loving family until moving to Ontario Ohio in 1961. Jane would then attend Ontario Senior High School and meet her future husband and love of each other's lives Bruce Briggs. After attending OSU for a short time and tech school in 1969, Jane began working for United Telephone Company in Mansfield, Ohio.

It wasn’t until 1970 that Jane began her true passion. On February 21, 1970 Bruce and Mary Jane were wed and began their 57 year marriage together. Along the way they raised four beautiful children; Eric, Robert, Hailey and Megan. During that time Mary Jane was a beloved member of the community, attracting people to her through her vivacious nature and quick wit. Her love for craft, arts and cooking shined through from her job at Ben Franklins making wreaths, bows and other works of art to her boisterous and lively family gathering.

Jane had a wonderful sense of humor and wit, which was constantly sharpened by the friends and family that surrounded her throughout her life. Besides crafts, Jane was an avid reader and lover of the beach where fine memories were made alongside family and friends.

Jane is survived by her husband and all four children as well as her younger sister Grace (Dan) Entingh and numerous nieces and nephews

Jane was preceded in death by her parents June and Lester Hamrick as well as her three siblings Richard Hamrick, Rebecca Hall, and Kaye Porter

A service honoring Jane’s life and faith will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 in the Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes in Galion with Pastor Christine Robinson officiating. Calling hours will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Monday evening at the funeral home.
