Obituary
Apostel Paul Mullins, Sr., 81, of Mansfield, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 8, 2020.
Apostel was born on January 2, 1939 in Inez, KY, the son of Ivory and Laura (Delong) Mullins. Apostel grew up in a big family and left his schooling at a young age to begin working. He later met his wife, Barbara Ann Mullins, and they enjoyed 62 beautiful years together. They started a family and moved to Mansfield for better work opportunities. Apostel and Barbara had 4 children, who later had children of their own. His strong work ethic, determination, and knowledge of his craft was something to be admired, and helped build a legacy that will live on in the generations that come after him.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Mullins; children, Apostel Mullins, Jr., Roger (Wendy) Mullins, Kevin (Autumn) Mullins; son-in-law, Gary Bennett; grandchildren, Cody Mullins, Crystal (James) Szymczak, Erica Nigh, Kathryn Mullins, Mackenzie Mullins, Dylan Mullins, Brandyn Mullins, Kaden Mullins, Ian Mullins, Gary Bennett, Jr., Joey Bennett, and Rebecca Bennett; great-grandchildren, Courtney Brafford, Avery and Alivia Szymczak, and Jaxson Bennett; sisters, Deloris Howell, Sue Hamilton, and Betty Morgan.
Apostel was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Ellen Bennett; and daughter-in-law, Dora Mullins.
All who had the pleasure of knowing Apostel, knew him to be hard working, dedicated, and strong. He was so many things to so many people. He was a husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, but he was also a teacher, jokester, storyteller, and confidant. Apostel was also an amazing bowler and shared his love of bowling with his whole family. He played in many leagues and would take his grandkids bowling every thanksgiving. He will be missed greatly, but his memory will live on through his family and those he touched throughout his life.
Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Werner Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Ave. East, Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 13, 2020 at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Mullins, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
