Obituary
William D. Fisher, 76, of Silvercrest Dr. died Sunday, Aug. 6,2006, in Triumph Hospital, Mansfield, following a long illness.
He was born Sept. 6, 1929, in Racine, Wisc., to Caleb and Maryann (Davey) Fisher, was graduated from Washington Park High School and attended Whitewater State College, where he was a member of Phi Chi Epsilon.
A World War II Army veteran, William served much of his time in Post Ordnance, Fort Richardson, Alaska.
From his early years, he owned a milk distributorship for Borden Dairy in Racine.
He moved to an office manager position for the Bardon Rubber Co. of Union Grove, Wisc.
Bill left Wisconsin in 1967 to accept a position of general manager with Detroit Roll in Dearborn, MI, before moving on to Mansfield the following year as disctrict sales manager with Stillman Seal Division of Sargent Industries.
In 1975 he founded Fisher Sales Co. in Lexington, specializing in hydraulic cylinder repair parts and kits, a firm he owned and operated until his retirement, when he sold the company in 2001.
An avid woodworker, Bill enjoyed turning out projects from his home shop that benefited his family-such as a step stool, one for each of the kids.
No perch or walleye was safe when Bill and his band of buddies headed toward Lake Erie. With his private pilot's license, he enjoyed taking to the air.
Neat as a pin, he was meticulous in maintaining his home and lawn, to the point you "could eat off his garage floor."
He was a member of Resurrection Parish Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn (Zebuhr) Fisher, whom he married May1, 1954 and six children.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Pennywitt; a granddaughter, Dawn Alford; and a brother, Jack.
The family will receive friends from 5-8pm Wednesday in the Lexington Ave Snyder Funeral Home. Burial with military honors conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Association will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
