Obituary
Jimmie Darrell Miller, age 90, of Mansfield, passed away early Friday morning, February 14, 2025, at his home.
Born December 23, 1934, in Denton, Kentucky, he was one of eight children of the late Lon and Rena Alice (Tolliver) Miller. Jimmie learned the value of hard work and retired from Empire Detroit Steel Mill with 38 years of service. He was a member of Dean Road Freewill Baptist Church. Jimmie led a life of stewardship and was a driver for Meals on Wheels for many years. He visited many nursing homes spreading the love of Jesus.
Jimmie enjoyed gardening and attending vegetable auctions. Working at the retiree’s fish fry and going on trips with them brought back and created more special memories. He was a member of the Shiloh Masonic Lodge #544 F.&A.M. Being with his family and friends brought him immense joy.
Jimmie is survived by his wife, Vernus “Bunny” Miller; a daughter, Theresa (Mike) Jackson; a son, James Miller; two grandchildren, Michael (Michelle) Jackson and Rebecca Tucker; five great-grandchildren, Dalton, Austin and Kaelyn Jackson and Elijah and Jacob Tucker; two great-great grandchildren, Greyson and Aurora; a special niece, Joni Barker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kitty Miller; and seven siblings, Charles Miller, Andy Miller, Cleotis Miller, Mary Marcum, Bessie Ratcliff, Elizabeth Cains and Faye Ruth Caudill.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service conducted by Rev. Clifford Earl Tackett will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with additional visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park.
