Clyde was born on March 5, 1926, in Weston, West Virginia to the late Clyde Jennings Sr., and Mattie (nee Donaldson) Hardman.
He served in the Army-Airforce in WWII and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant in 1946. Eventually he found his way to Mansfield, where he met Betty Roth, married, and soon went to work for her father, Fred Roth in his auto repair garage.
