ALFRED W. DAVIS, 85, DIED AT MANSFIELD GENERAL TUESDAY EVENING FOLLOWING A LINGERING ILLNESS.
BORN IN DRYBROOK, ENGLAND, OCT. 18, 1873, HE CAME TO THE UNITED STATES IN 1893 AND HAS BEEN A RESIDENT OF MANSFIELD SINCE 1914.
HE WAS A RETIRED ROLLER AT THE EMPIRE REEVES STEEL CORP., HAVING RETIRED AFTER 41 YEARS WITH THE COMPANY.
HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE PARK AVE. BAPTIST CHURCH, DELANO LODGE, SECRETARY-TREASURER OF THE CIO COUNCIL AND LIFE MEMBER OF THE EAGLES OF ELWOOD, IND.
HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE, MARTHA DAVIS; SEVEN DAUGHTERS, MRS. ELSIE URSCHEL, SHAKER HEIGHTS, MRS. LUCILLE GARNER, TOLEDO, MRS. HOWARD MCELHANEY, DAYTON, MRS. JACK WAGENHALS, MARION, AND MRS. JACK WAGENHALS, MARION, MRS. JACK OWINGS, LILLIAN DAVIS, AND MRS. LLOYD HOWELL OF MANSFIELD; TWO SONS, ALFRED T. DAVIS, LAS VEGAS, NEV., AND ROBERT J. DAVIS OF LUCAS; 13 GRANDCHILDREN AND SIX GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN; ONE BROTHER, FRANK DAVIS; AND ONE SISTER, MIS MAE DAVIS OF LONDON, ENGLAND. MR. DAVIS AND HIS WIFE WOULD HAVE CELEBRATED THEIR 62ND WEDDING ANNIVERSARY ON MARCH 6TH.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE CONDUCTED AT THE J.H. FINEFROCK & SONS FUNERAL HOME SATURDAY AT 11AM BY DR. WILLIAM TAYLOR, PASTOR OF PARK AVE BAPTIST CHURCH.
BURIAL WILL BE IN MANSFIELD MEMORIAL PARK. FRIENDS MAY CALL AT THE FUNERAL HOME AFTER 7PM THURSDAY EVENING.
