Jack Arthur Turner, a beloved member of the Lexington community, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 7, 2023, at the age of 77. He was surrounded by his loved ones in his Lexington home under the compassionate care of Hospice of North Central Ohio.
Jack was born on January 20, 1946, in Bethesda, MD, and was lovingly adopted by Russell and Ruth (Wolf) Turner. He graduated from Ontario High School and furthered his education by earning an associate’s degree in business administration from Tiffin University. During his school years, Jack was an enthusiastic participant in various sports, including running, bowling, basketball, and later, a church softball league.
His professional journey led him to First National Bank, where he worked diligently and climbed the ranks to become a manager. Additionally, Jack contributed his skills as a bookkeeper to the Lexington Pharmacy, leaving a positive impact on the local community. Gifted with organization, Jack kept meticulous records in all areas of his life.
Jack's passions were as diverse as they were fascinating. He was a member of the Richland Lithic & Lapidary Society, displaying his fondness for items such as rocks, Native American arrowheads, and artifacts. He cherished memories of his younger days such as exploring and white-water rafting, a testament to his adventurous spirit. As a traveler at heart, Jack found joy in exploring new sights across America, sharing his enthusiasm and stories about his discoveries with those around him.
Jack was not only known for his exceptional storytelling abilities that captivated those around him, but also for his endearingly goofy sense of humor that brought smiles to all who knew him. As "Grandpa Jack," he took immense pride in his five grandchildren, often sharing their achievements and heartwarming photos with anyone willing to lend an ear to his tales of joy.
His strong faith in Christ was an integral part of Jack's life, he was excited to share his faith with others in many ways including Bible studies. He found solace and strength through his beliefs, shaping the generous and kind-hearted person he was known to be.
Jack is survived by his loving daughter, Christine (Matthew) Currens, of Whitehouse, OH, and his son, CW3 James (Danica) Turner, of Colorado Springs, CO. He also leaves behind a cherished legacy through his grandchildren: Katelyn Currens, Mackenzie Turner, Sophie Turner, Oliver Turner, and Penelope Turner. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Nancy Rank, of Hilliard, OH.
