Charlene Thomas
January 1, 2022 - October 26, 1924
Charlene Thomas of Mansfield, passed away January 1, 2022, at her home at the age of 97.
Born October 26, 1924, in Ronda, West Virginia, she was one of fifteen children of the late Susan (Jarrett) and Roy Greathouse. Growing up in a large family, Charlene became a wonderful cook and enjoyed working in her gardens. Later in life, she enjoyed sitting outside on her swing. Her main priority in life was God, her family and the genuine love she had for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren was undeniable. In her free time, Charlene was a voracious reader.
She is survived by four children, Tammy Thomas, Glennda (Robert) Villinger, Donald (Effie) Thomas and Roy (Holly) Thomas; six grandchildren, Dalene Sterling, Donald Thomas Jr., Neil Thomas, Sherry Webster, Tamara Thomas, and Shannon Villinger; eleven great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; a brother, William Greathouse; a sister, Wanda Paxton; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Odell Thomas; two sons, Gary and Douglas Thomas; a granddaughter, Shelly Brown; and twelve siblings.
The family will receive friends from 4:30-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor David Parsons officiating. She will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice.
