Obituary
Merrell B. Mercer, 91, formerly of Shenandoah, Ohio, died Sunday evening at Shelby Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness.
Born Nov. 27, 1895, in Olivesburg to George and Lottie Bennett Mercer, he lived most of his life in Shenandoah. Mr. Mercer was a real estate broker and a real estate agent for the past 50 years and was a past member of the Real Estate Brokers' Association.
He was a member of the Rome Community Church, where he had served as superintendent of the Sunday school classes for more than 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, Coral Young Mercer; three sons, Robert of California, Carroll of Columbus and Gerald of Wilmington; one daughter, Dana Patton of Shelby; two step daughters, Mrs. David Eckert of Shelby and Mrs. Robert Herrold of Columbus; 11 grandchildren; and one great grandson.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jane Hixon; one brother, Schylar; and one grandson.
