Kathy Fluharty Foster Obituary
Even in her darkest hour, Kathy Foster was a blessing. In life she sought to be a blessing to others, and in death, she was a tremendous blessing, giving the gift of life to others, by way of organ donation.
Her final hours were selfless as Kathy passed away Thursday, October 27, 2011 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. She was 42.
Born Melvia Kathleen Fluharty on August 9, 1969 in Shelby, she remained a lifelong Mansfield resident.
Kathy enjoyed gardening and traveling, and her taste in music was mostly Country & Western, with a little bit of Rock-n-Roll. She dreamed of living on the ocean and spent an immeasurable amount of time on her health care and medicine college work with Columbus State Community College, and online and distance learning classes.
A member of Phi Theta Kappa, Kathy completed medical assisting training with the Ashland County-West Holmes Career Center, earned certification as a Medical Assistant with the AAMAI, and studied with the Veterans Health Administration.
She had worked with TeleFlex, and only recently accepted a position with HMG, assisting the hospitalists in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital.
She is survived by her fiance Randy Powell; her son Aaron McFadden of Mansfield; her mother Florence Fluharty of Mansfield; her brother Virgle Joe Fluharty of Mansfield; her sister Karen Scott of Dennison; and her aunt Betty Flannery of Mansfield.
She was preceded in death by her father Virgle Gordon Fluharty.
Friends may call Wednesday, November 2, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, 350 Marion Avenue (former Finefrock Funeral Home), where her funeral service will immediately follow at 1 p.m. Pastor John Harris will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
