Camilla Irene (Shea) Perrill was born on December 9, 1942, in Shelby, Ohio, the daughter of Earl W. Shea and Laura Jessie (Bickel) Shea. She passed away on March 28, 2020, in her home under the care of her loving family.
Camilla graduated from Ontario High School after which she began her first job at the Mansfield News Journal in the Classified Department. She then transferred into the Circulation Department where her activities included secretarial responsibilities, bookkeeping, and handling customer calls. Her career at the News Journal ended in 1961 when she moved to Newport, Rhode Island, for two years.
After returning to Mansfield, Camilla became a proud 22-year employee of the Mansfield branch of IBM where she was the Executive Administrative Assistant and Personnel Specialist. Along the way, she earned many awards for her outstanding performance and received the most significant administrative award, the IBM Means Service Award, multiple times.
Camilla was always a hard worker and even after retirement, she continued by participating in several community activities. She volunteered weekly at the Mansfield branch of the Ohio Genealogical Society where she spent many hours sorting and transcribing old documents. She was also an active 10-year member of the Jared Mansfield Chapter of the D. A. R., where she served as (Communications Chair (2013 -2019), American Indians Chair (2019-2020), and Chapter Vice Regent (2017-2019). Camilla was also a member of the Ohio Genealogical Society, Volunteered on the Richland Co. Probate Court Records Project. Camilla was and a member of the Lexington Presbyterian Church where she helped with activities ranging from organizing rummage sales to cleaning the church.
She was an avid genealogist who enjoyed learning about those who had gone before her. She went far beyond basic names and dates, writing detailed stories about her ancestors’ lives and the struggles they endured. She was especially proud of her Irish lineage; her trip to Ireland where she stayed in B&Bs and visited with everyday Irish people was one she would never forget.
Camilla was a wonderful hostess who loved entertaining groups. Her family and friends looked forward to her many parties featuring carefully planned gourmet menus.
She treasured her many friends and never let a friendship die because of time or distance; she found telephone time “to have wine together apart,” sent personally made cards and letters, and traveled to visit those who lived far away.
Camilla’s hard work continued with the pride she took in her home inside and out. She was regularly painting or remodeling the inside & always grooming the yard and flower beds outside. She would tirelessly spread mulch, maintain her many flower beds, weed and do whatever necessary to keep her yard something she was always proud of.
Camilla’s proudest accomplishment was her family. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved spending time with each of her family members and was always interested in whatever they had going on and wanted to hear “the story”. It didn’t matter if she needed to get onto the trampoline, get on the horse, ride the four-wheeler or just go to dinner; she wanted to be involved in what they were doing.
Camilla is survived by her husband of 45 years, Norman; her son, Michael (Gabe) Waldman of Port St. Lucie, FL; her daughter Tracy (Tim) Kissinger of Mansfield; her step-daughter, Marcy (Sam) Featheringill of Mansfield; her grandchildren Stephen Michael Waldman, Bryan Anthony Waldman, Alecia Jesse (Joshua) Binion, Andrew Timothy Kissinger, Aryn Anne Kissinger, Ali Lynne (Scott) Gilbert, Adilynn Grace Kissinger, Jamie Marie Epps, Anthony Michael Jeffery, and Troy Allen Foor; and her great-grandchildren Zachary Binion, Mackenzie Binion, Zander Binion, Evan William Kissinger, Colt Timothy Miller, Paisley Gilbert, Sylas Trent Ditmars, Vyctoria Marie Ditmars, Lyncoln James Lambert, and Marc Strosnider Cavey; her brother Kenneth (Elaine) Shea of Lexington; her sister-in-law, Dixie Murphy of Ontario and many nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held at the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Andrew Ballitch with burial at Mansfield Memorial Park in Ontario. Please only attend in-person if you have received an invitation. The family will plan a celebration of her life for all to attend once gathering restrictions have been lifted.
