MANSFIELD: Margaret L. Massa, 96, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2022, in Winchester Terrace Nursing Center.
She was born June 3, 1925 in Long Beach, MS to Rex and Gurtha (Hudson) Jones and attended Gulfport High School.
Moving to Ohio in 1942, Marge worked at JC Penny in the office. Later, she moved to Maryland where she worked for several banks, and New Orleans, LA where she worked with her husband, Earle Massa, with the National Flood Insurance Program. She continued flood insurance work with Earle, and together they enjoyed winters in Palmetto, FL.
Marge was an avid golfer and at the age of 71, she landed a hole in one at Forest Hills Golf Club. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers.
She is survived by her daughter Suzie Massa and son Steve Massa both of Mansfield, five grandchildren Zach (Kristie) Massa, Aaliyah Snyder, Noah Snyder, Sean Massa and Sabrina Massa; brother Cecil (Sharalene) Jones, sister Rexine Jones, sister-in-law Shirley Garrison, and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband of 56 years, she was preceded in death by a sister Ethel and three brothers Bobby, Earle, and Kenneth Jones; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Marilyn and Gene Carlisle, Richard and Doris Massa, Tom Garrison, niece Jill Joyce, nephew Tom Massa.
Friends may call Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 10 am to 11 am in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will follow at 11 am. Pastor Ron Biddle will officiate and burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. The family asks that all attendees wear facial covering.
Donations in memory of Margaret's Bichon "Shadsy'' may be made to the Richland County Humane Society.
