Robert "Bobby" E. VanDorn Jr.

Robert E. “Bobby” VanDorn Jr., 56, of Galion, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at Avita Health System-Ontario Hospital after suffering with COPD for many years. He was born November 5, 1963, in Galion, Ohio.
Bobby was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Special Forces as a Green Beret. He loved his country and remained a patriot after his service. He had previously worked at Swan Cleaners and Walmart. He had a heart of gold, loved his family deeply, and was a fierce protector of his little sister, Gidget. Bobby was a wonderful artist and enjoyed painting, especially 3D painting. He loved his coffee and was never without his cup in hand.
He is survived by a sister, Diana “Gidget” Stegall of Mansfield; fiancée, Tracey Kiley of Galion; Labrador retriever, Duke; nephew, Tony (Christy) Zack of Attica; great-nephew, Aiden Zack; great-niece, Erica Zack; step children, Dylan Kiley (Dylan Huff) of Columbus and Cicely Kiley (Jeremy Kincaid); step grandchildren, Oliver, Milo and Elijah; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and best friends, Dave Bauer and Sue Logan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Eugene Sr. and Marilyn (Beery) VanDorn; sister, Deborah Zack; brother-in-law, Tony Zack; and best friend, Tom German.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 2020, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 1:30 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
