Miriam Louise (Hudson) Fowler died at home December 8, 2020 after a long illness under the care of SouthernCare Hospice.
Miriam was born July 24, 1930, in Toledo to James & Helen (Buchanan) Hudson, and died at the age of 90. She graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1948. Miriam had a nickname “Snooky” which was given to her at birth by a neighbor and was commonly used by friends all her life.
She attended Ohio University in Athens for two years, then transferred to Ohio State University in Columbus where her graduation took place in 1953 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She was a member of the Pi Phi sorority. While at Ohio State as a student she saw the 1950 OSU/Michigan football game in its entirety—known as the snow bowl game.
Upon her graduation from OSU, she worked for the John Galbraith Mortgage Company as an accountant in Columbus. In 1953, she married Richard Fowler on May 23 and moved to Mansfield where she took a job as a receptionist for Gorman Rupp. During her life, she played lots of bridge and tennis and was a volunteer worker at the gift shop of Mansfield General Hospital for many years and was a charter member of the hospital auxiliary. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Mansfield and Westbrook Country Club. She enjoyed spending time at her winter home in Key Colony Beach, Florida with her husband.
Miriam is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Richard Fowler of Mansfield; son James (Tracy) Fowler of Dublin; daughter Catherine DeLong of Lexington; grandchildren Zachary DeLong, Hannah DeLong, and Ryan Fowler; great-granddaughter Claire Louise Fowler; and canine companion, Frannie. Her family wishes to thank her caregivers: Debi, Denise, Tonya, and Michelle.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother John Hudson.
